Modal verbs + infinitive
Pouvoir, vouloir and devoir are followed directly by an infinitive.

Examiner tip
On devrait + infinitive (‘we/people should’) is perfect for opinions on the environment or health.
Common mistake
Adding a preposition after a modal: ‘je peux de sortir’ is wrong — say ‘je peux sortir’.
